You’ll find everything you need to know about me and why I do what I do.
The Old Soul Blog and www.chandlercrawford.com are dedicated to my daughter, Layla. Layla passed away in February of 2014 from a combination of RSV and The Flu. At the time she got sick I was in Afghanistan. I left for deployment when she was 7 weeks old, and she looked a bit like this…
When Layla got sick my wife called me from the hospital and told what was happening. It went from a routine visit to something much worse in a matter of a few hours.
Layla was in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit before I left Afghanistan and it took me 96 hours to get to her side. Those were the worst 96 hours of my life, and I remember every second of every hour.
My wife and I spent 30 days by Layla’s side as she battled as hard as any person could battle. But on February 21st, her body quit fighting. This blog is one way of honoring her memory.
I have loved writing for the past three years when I sat down to write my first short story. It was as much an experiment as it was deliberate. I didn’t have cable at the time and I’d run out of movies to watch. So I wrote. Writing has been a large part of my life ever since.
Two years ago I started a blog about Golf and the interesting people I’ve met while playing the game. I didn’t keep up with it very well and I eventually quit posting altogether. But after Layla passed I felt compelled to start something for her, and The Old Soul was born.
We all experience trials and tribulations in our lives. Every person on this planet will experience hardships, that is common to all. But each experience is unique and so is how we respond.
The aim of this blog is to help you understand those trials and tribulations and turn them into TRIUMPHS! The crisis does not define you, but how you respond does.
Few trials are easy to overcome, but with persistence and the will to learn there is no stopping you. I have learned a great deal over the past seven months and there is much of my journey to go. I hope you will join me in it as I pass on each and every lesson I feel can be of value to my readers.
I invite you to email me and engage me on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Google Plus, Pinterest, Instagram, and any other online community. I write these posts for you and me. Each morning a new post is added I learn something from the process and the readers. I could not, and would not want to, do this without you.
Let’s learn together and turn our trials and tribulations into TRIUMPHS! Because we are defined by how we respond to such things, and our legacy lies in how we can impact those around us.
Take control of your life and understand the trials and tribulations you have experienced. You are the only person with those experiences, and they mean something.
